Abstract

SiO2 nanowires were synthesized by thermal evaporation of rice husk ash and coconut shell charcoal with the ratio of 1:2 by weight heated at a temperature of 1,350 ºC in atmosphere of nitrogen for 1 hour. The scanning electron microscope and X-rays diffraction instrument are used to characterize the SiO2 nanowires. The SiO2 nanowires synthesized have diameters varying from 40 nm to 200 nm while the lengths were a few micrometers.
